What is elevator music?
Elevator music - or more formally, Muzak™ - was a type of background music typically played in spaces like elevators, lobbies, shopping malls, and other public areas.
Generally characterized by its soft, unobtrusive, and calming nature, designed to fill silence without demanding the listener’s full attention - the music often featured instrumental versions of popular songs or light jazz, classical, or easy-listening genres. Historically, as skyscrapers rose in the early 20th century, this music was introduced in these building’s elevators to help calm uneasy passengers, reducing anxiety during long rides.
The original purpose of elevator music was simple: to create a pleasant and welcoming ambiance for people in transit or waiting. DJ Elevator Operatör transforms this unique musical legacy, bringing its soothing qualities into a modern soundscape, making the journey as memorable as the destination.
